Happy Birthday Blog

Well... hasn't time flown...

I'd like to say a big thank you to Jim for his excellent input over the last year, long may it continue.
It's safe to say his input has given a fresh impetuous to the blog content, something that was probably waining due my time being taken up elsewhere.

50,000 hits

For anybody interested, the blog has now had 50,000 hits since I started logging visitors.
It would be good to boast that these are all different people........... but there not.
40k of them are probably Les- he doesn't do much with his days!!

New Diary Dates and Guests

Below are 'hot of the press' enhancements to the club diary.
  • Next meetings talk is to be given by John Armitage and not Pete warren as billed. The subject is the same......moving your trees on.

  • May 11th we have Paul Goff giving us a talk on presentation. He will photograph up to 25 club members trees on the night.

  • The Gordale workshop, last sunday in August, we have booked Steve Tolley. He will work with anybody (brave?) who brings a tree along.
    Cheers
Dougie

Dougie's Box Graphic

For those who saw the stencil at the last meeting, here's Doug's 1st use of it!!
Looks good to me.
Plus I believe Doug's open to applying it to boxes anybody already has, so that you look 'complete', when entering your next show venue.

A link to Doug's site is below.

Message from Mr Tolley

Following my sending of what I thought would be a late BoBB 2011 entry, it seems Steve is of a mind to "kick a few ar**s up our way" as apparently club entries are conspicuous by there absence.

Lee- your gluteus maximus was a particular target!!
If your tree was preselected at last years show, you still need to send an entry.

Come on you lot, get your act together.......

Apologies

A quick message to all members and blog groupies - Apologies for the lack of posts recently, not to mention meeting absenteeism.

A combination of being snowed under at work, recovering from the broken leg and more pertinently the imminent arrival of 'Mame no. 2' has cut my spare time to zero.

Bear with it and hopefully there will be more drivel (or is that dribble?) soon.

'So long, and thanks for all the fish'

By way of an addendum to the AGM notes, Im sure every member of WBS would join in with a big hearty thank you to our departing (literally) chairman Les for all the hard work he has put in during the previous year.

New official photographer

As announced at this months meeting Brian has resigned as Wirral bonsai's official photographer, due to outside pressures and 'a wish to spend more time with his family'. (or was it due to his rejected expense claims for the duck pond ornaments & the maid 'services' for his Swiss chalet?)

I would like to thank Brain for his unstinting work & input during his tenure.

Taking his place is Jim 'the Lad' and I look forward to working with him on demonstrating to the world what our club gets up to (not to mention the depths of our depravity!!)

Membership

New members are always welcome, just come along to one of our monthly meetings at the RAFA club. You can even 'try us out' for a few months before you decide on joining as an official member. The meetings are informal (there's a bar!) and the club members are (mostly) friendly, approachable and happy to pass on guidance and information to anybody interested in bonsai- whatever your level of experience.
